“On May 2, 2008, Cyclone Nargis devastated the developing country of Myanmar, where at least 130,000 people were killed and thousands more have remained missing. In efforts to equip individuals with the medicines they need to serve people on their missions, Giving Hope International helped equip Dr. Rev. Edward InChul Kim with over-the-counter medicines for his June trip to Myanmar.
Dr. Kim arrived in Myanmar with the medicines Giving Hope International provided, and helped administer aid to those who hadn’t received any medical attention since the disaster hit a month earlier.
GHI was established in May 2002 as an independent but affiliated agency with Giving Children Hope. The specific mission of GHI is to focus on the needs of individuals who have special needs beyond the relief and development work of the parent organization. The purpose of GHI is to give hope one by one. GHI goes into action when the normal structures of relief and development programs cannot help.”
